ZIRCONIUM SILICATE:

Zirconium silicates is non-toxic, tasteless, white or offwhite powder, made of high-purity zircon sand concentrates by process of ultra-thin crushing, iron removal, titanium processing, surface modification, etc., and is a good-quality and cheap opacifier, whitening agent, permeability-reducing agent and stabilizing agent of ceramic glaze. It has good chemical stability, is insusceptible to ceramics firing atmosphere, can obviously improve the glaze-body bonding performance of ceramics and the hardness of ceramic glaze, and is widely used in the production of various building ceramics, sanitary ceramics, domestic ceramics, first-class ceramic artware, etc.
 

Zirconium silicate, also zirconium orthosilicate, ZrSiO₄, is a chemical compound, a silicate of zirconium. It occurs in nature as zircon, a silicate mineral. Powdered zirconium silicate is also known as zircon flour.

Zirconium silicate is usually colorless, but impurities induce various colorations. It is insoluble in water, acids. Hardness is 7.5 on the Mohs scale

APPLICATION:

The major applications exploit its refractory nature and resistance to corrosion,Two end-uses are for enamels, and ceramic glazes. In enamels and glazes it serves as an opacifier. It can be also present in some cements.
